Exploring the Enchanting Charms of Barsana:The Hometown Of Radha Rani
Hello fellow adventurers! Welcome to another exciting travel tale brought to you by Anshul's Odyssey. Today, I'm thrilled to whisk you away to a place that's filled with history, culture, and a touch of magic – ''Barsana''. Join me as we relive my one-day escapade to this hidden gem nestled in the heart of India.
Since childhood, I've had a keen interest in Radha Krishna. As I grew up, that affection for Radha Krishna's love story continued to expand. Each day, my love for Radha Krishna grew stronger. Through the years, I've felt Radha Rani's blessings and grace in my life, which has strengthened my belief in her. Radha Rani's hometown is Barsana, a place not too far from my home. It's located within a range of 100 to 110 kilometers, and let me tell you, it's a peaceful heaven.
After finalize everything. Deciding to go to Barsana, I convinced my brother to join me. You know, traveling alone isn't as enjoyable as when you're with cousins or friends. Therefore, I persuaded my cousin to accompany me. I assured him not to worry, as I was very excited.
This was going to be my first time taking a train to Barsana. In the past, I had gone many times, but I used my personal vehicle. So, this was a experience for me.My love for Radha Rani was the cause of this excitement. I knew I was about to have a great time.
The train was scheduled for 5:00 AM in the morning. However, my excitement was so overwhelming that I couldn't sleep until 1:00 AM. I spent the night imagining the beautiful views I would witness in Barsana. The thought of the serene atmosphere and the view from Barsana's temples filled my heart with joy.
Even after going to bed quite late, I managed to wake up at 4:00 AM. Though my sleep wasn't complete but my excitement for Barsana outweighed any tiredness.
When I stepped outside, I noticed that it had rained all night and a slight drizzle was still falling. My mood dampened a bit seeing the rain. I couldn't help but wonder, what had happened? I was so excited since last night, and now the rain was disrupting my plans. The rain threatened to ruin my entire plan. However, I still didn't lose hope. Despite the rain, we started preparing. As we got ready, the ain gradually stopped. Radha Rani's blessings seemed to shine upon me once again.
On the platform, we saw that the train bound for Goverdhan, scheduled for 5:00 AM, was delayed and would now arrive at 8:00 AM. We ended up waiting for 3 hours. During this time, we made plans about what places we'd visit and what we'd do. Finally, the train arrived. As we boarded the train, a light drizzle started again. But this time, it didn't bother us much because the view outside was splendid due to the rain. The weather had become cool and pleasant.
Inside the train, I'd advise you not to eat papad (snack) or chana and peanuts. You might want to avoid it, as you'll soon see why. because that you have to worship in the temple without eating or drinking anything. We hadn't eaten much since we planned to visit the temple first. After the temple visit, we'd have a proper meal. So, we refrained from eating anything on the train.
After a 3-hour train journey, we arrived at Goverdhan. Now, we needed an auto rickshaw to reach the Goverdhan Chauraha. If I could give you one piece of advice about auto rickshaws or taxis, it would be this: never hire one directly from the railway station or bus station. They can be quite costly. The same service outside Goverdhan's railway station or bus station will be more reasonably priced. It's not too far from the station to Goverdhan Chauraha, so we decided to walk there. and enjoying the nature behind the roadside.
After reaching Goverdhan Chauraha, we took a bus to Barsana. The bus fare was ₹70 for one-way. As we started our journey from there to Barsana, the chant of "Radha Radha" began. This is something quite special in Braj. Before you start any task, people here say "Radha Radha". Even if someone makes a mistake, they say "Radhe Radhe". When you enter Barsana, the chanting of Radha Radha starts automatically. It's quite remarkable.
As you go up, you'll notice that the temple is located on a higher platform. The path to reach there is a bit steep. After climbing, you'll start getting a view of the surroundings. On the way up, you might notice monkeys playing around on the trees beside you. Be cautious, as they can be mischievous. They are Krishna's trained monkeys, who were part of his childhood stories. Krishna and the monkeys used to collaborate in many mischievous activities.
The Radha Rani temple is situated about 200 to 300 steps uphill from the market. Once you reach the top, you'll be greeted by a mesmerizing view. On the way, you might see monkeys playing on the sides of the path. Be cautious, as they might pull your belongings. You might need to offer them something to get your belongings back.
After we had darshan (sacred sight) inside the temple, we sat down for a while and meditated. There's a calmness in Radha Rani's presence that's truly soothing. Afterward, we went to the balcony on the back side of the temple. This balcony offers a complete view of Barsana. The same view that was keeping me awake until 1:00 AM the previous night. The experience was truly worth it.
The weather was pleasant, and the view was breathtaking. You can take out your camera and capture the moment. Nobody will stop you from taking pictures here. However, remember not to take pictures inside the temple. From the balcony, you can see the smaller houses of Barsana below, along with the hills in the distance.
Feel free to capture your photos and enjoy the serene surroundings. If you stand on the balcony, you can also see a panoramic view of the hills on the right side. After enjoying the view, you can start your descent.
After having the darshan and capturing the views through photography, we began our exit from the temple. As we descended, we put on our flip-flops again. We said "Radhe Radhe" to the shopkeeper where we had left our footwear. Then, we headed towards the market.
In the market, we realized we were quite hungry since we hadn't eaten anything since morning. Now that we had finished our darshan, it was finally time to eat. To begin, we quenched our thirst with sugarcane juice. It was refreshing and cool—perfect for the Braj heat.
Of course, when you're in Braj, you can't miss out on the delicious kachaudis. We tried the famous kachaudiya of Barsana, and they were truly mouthwatering. With satisfied appetites, we enjoyed our packed lunch from home.
